Conference Theme: HR’s Shining Star (You) ... Mapping Your Future
Agenda:
Does it sometimes seem that your world is upside down? Demands coming from every direction? Your job requiring more and more while your resources are less and less? Family, education, volunteer activities and daily responsibilities consuming your time and wearing you down?
If this describes your life, rest assured, your contributions have not gone unnoticed! We know that you are HR’s Shining Star and this conference intends to provide you tools to help you map your future as a SHRM Chapter Leader.
Join your peers for enlightened discussion of your chapter roles and best practices on how to map out a legacy for you and your chapter.
We begin our conference with an inspirational presentation by Sam Parker. Mr. Parker’s bestselling book, 212° The Extra Degree has motivated people around the world. Used by thousands of organizations across the country, 212° (two-twelve degrees) is a message that reminds us how a small amount of extra effort and attention can have a big impact on results. You will leave understanding what it takes to be “212 in 2012!” (www.givemore.com)
Dave Winter, an HR Consultant who has served as a SHRM Chapter Leader and HR Director, will help us understand what it takes to ensure Organization and Personal Resilience in yet another workshop. (www.winterhr.com)
C. Annie Magnant has served in leadership roles in volunteer organizations throughout her career, including her previous position as President of the Virginia Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. Here she sharpened her understanding of the “care and nurturing” of volunteers. In her current position as Executive Director of the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation she has been quoted as saying that “Creating a ‘wow’ experience for donors and volunteers” is what motivates her. Plan to learn best practices that have ensured success in organizations in which she has served. Find out more about her and the ambitious event to be hosted by the Virginia Museum of Science beginning in January 2012 entitled, “Race – Are We So Different?,” at www.smv.org.
Join us and realize that in the midst of the calamity of everyday living, you are HR’s Shining Star and the Virginia SHRM’s 2012 Leadership Conference will help you map your future!
