The workforce of each region is shaped by the culture they grew up in. Why is that? How is that?
Culture refers to the learned behaviors of a group of people considered to be tradition in that group and are passed on from generation to generation.  The training will explore the Appalachian culture, the culture of poverty which includes social class, the effects of gender in culture and the beliefs and values and behaviors that are brought to the workplace.  The discussion will include the culture and ethics of the workplace vs the culture and ethics of the individual.

The seminar will be led by Susan Helton, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker; therapist at Abingdon Center for Psychiatry, Counseling and Education; consultant for the Department of Social Services in the TANF/VIEW program; adjunct faculty for Radford University, Masters in Social Work program.
