Help Wanted: Looking For Great Employees
There's been quite a bit of attention in the news last week and over the weekend paid to the way employers treat unemployed people looking for work. One recent news story went so far as to begin with a headline: Looking For Work? Unemployed Need Not Apply. Undoubtedly some companies will continue to look at unemployed people with less favor. However, the best companies look for the best people wherever they can find them.

Editing Your Profile - And managing personal information
If you’re like most people, you hesitate before adding your address or phone number to any form for any reason. And you might really be troubled about adding such information to a website, even if the website is http://swva.shrm.org. It is reasonable to have this reaction. Certification Prep
A couple of new members have expressed interest in earning a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. We would very much like to support our members becoming certified in any way we can. We will continue to let our members know about certification preparation classes in the Southwest Virginia region. And we could possibly coordinate study groups if there is enough interest...
